Practice not E'er buy a h2o heater from AO Smith. They do Non laurels their warranty, and are IMPOSSIBLE TO accomplish! I bought a top-of-the line AO Smith heater from Lowe's less than 2 years ago, with a 12-yr warranty. Fifty-fifty though it is barely used, the heating element went bad in information technology 2 months ago. Trying to contact AO Smith on the phone means being on concur for HOURS. Their nearest service tech is over 100 miles away and will not come up to my house to service the heater. He did offering to send me the part and get it installed by a local plumber - but wanted $forty to send it! This is a $xx part at Home Depot.

After numerous attempts at phone calls to them, I emailed AO Smith's "Customer Service". They refuse to send me the replacement part or even discuss the matter over email, insisting I have to call them. Well, afterwards over ii hours on hold Again I gave upwardly, and ordered the role from Home Depot. I'll be leaving this review of their products and "service" on every online forum. Spread the word: Do not EVER buy a AO Smith water heater!!

Purchased a 50-gallon AO Smith electrical hot water heater at Lowes. This heater was for my daughter. Had to replace the thermostat and elements in less than thirty days equally the thermostat was stuck. Not only did she have this trouble but the heater made her water "greasy." She started noticing a film in her sink and every time she would wash her pilus information technology felt oily. I sent an email to the visitor on March 3, 2022 showing my purchase receipt and the receipts for the repairs along with a moving-picture show of a burned-out element. Almost 2 weeks later and no reply from the company. Two months and over $600 wasted, I purchased and installed some other brand and the "greasy" problem went away immediately.

I took my heater element back to Lowes after less than 30 days of apply and the guy took one expect at it and waved his manus and said "we're not taking that back". Then he turned around and walked away.??? He didn't even enquire me anything, didn't permit me explicate anything and offered no help whatsoever. Should I purchase a new hot water heater...every twelvemonth??? What is the problem with customer service? I know my hot h2o heater should be under warranty? At present I'k on hold with A.O. Smith for the second time, (they hung upwardly on me simply not without making me wait for 30 minutes). Service guy from A.O. Smith was a picayune helpful when I did get to talk to him. I never asked for warranty issues, I don't expect that after reading the reviews.

Purchased a tankless water heater about 13 months ago from Lowe'due south. Later about a calendar month error code e2 started flashing, client service told u.s. to plough the breakers off than on. That worked for a while now error lawmaking e4 is flashing heats no water, and AO Smith won't even transport a technician out because I alive too far away. And Lowe's won't do annihilation till the manufacturer warranty is upwardly. I would definitely not recommend this production.

My five-month one-time A. O. Smith water heater (l-gallon. natural gas ProLine) stopped working last week. The pilot lite couldn't exist restarted and the condition light was dead. The 6-year warranty is a farce, equally there are no plumbing services in my expanse authorized to provide warranty service. I wasted hours calling every plumber A. O. Smith told me to phone call. None of them would piece of work on my water heater because I was too far abroad from all of them.

(I'thou in a heavily populated area of NJ nigh twenty miles from NYC.) A. O. Smith Support told me they couldn't update the database to correct the bad information, and they couldn't do much for me other than authorize the shipment of replacement parts once the defective part was identified. They would not cover my own plumber'south labor charge. So I'chiliad out hundreds of dollars in labor to my local plumber considering A. O. Smith couldn't provide an authorized plumber to work on it. Not cool. These water heaters are expensive, and they may have been reliable at in one case, but they're not reliable anymore, and the client support is horrible.

I purchase a new in the box AO Smith h2o heater on 2/14/2022. I installed it in one of our backdrop the aforementioned day. Discovered that the water heater did not have a relief valve in the box. I called customer service the next day. I was told that they would transport me the valve the next 24-hour interval by adjacent day air. I was told after getting my email that I could track the order. The side by side twenty-four hour period I realized that I never received an email and started to call customer service. My wife and I left many call backs number and she was never called dorsum. No other vendors had the type of popular off valve that this model required. Now I must replaced this already installed heater with another heater. It will non exist an AO SMITH brand. The popular off valve was never in the box. They sold a product that was useless the moment it left them. This business is not HONEST

Purchased this h2o heater at Lowe's. Plumber replaced same 24-hour interval. Water heater did not work. Call AO Smith. They stated heater could not exist returned. They would send out one of their contracted plumber. The error code on the digital stated that something was defective and a part needed to exist replaced. Per customer service they would have to club the part and they did not know when it would be available. We Demand A water heater (it's winter and water is freezing.) Could we please commutation information technology? No we could non do that. We would have to wait for the part. Oh No! We volition non expect. Brand new water heater and they are non willing to exchange information technology. In the concurrently we had to pay the plumber who installed it and pay another plumber to remove it! Unbelievable! So so disgusted!

I spent $1600 for this hybrid water heater and took out the extended warranty. Within 7 months the sensor went. They gave me a list of technicians and told me to phone call them to diagnose the problem and gave me a labor code for which the plumbers demand for payment. The plumbers told me that I was on the hook for the diagnosis because AO Smith decided that the problem was my basement (fifty-fifty though it was installed according to specs past a master plumber and that it was under 1 year old). I called the back up line back. This fourth dimension the client back up rep told me that it appears to exist an issue with the sensor, for which the first CSR had missed diagnosed. And said she would send out the part and gave me a difference labor repair number for the contracted plumber to use to install the part.

Later on 4 weeks the role never arrived. I called back and another CSR told me that the prior CSR was incorrect and that it would be besides expensive to replace the function because the plumber would have to accept the whole thing apart. So they said I needed to bring the unit of measurement dorsum to Lowe'southward to become it supervene upon. Here's the kicker. They wanted me, a person with no plumbing experience, to disconnect the unit and bring it to Lowe's to get it replaced because Lowe's will non supercede the unit of measurement without the broken i.

And then I got their blessing for the plumber to come and take out the unit and have to Lowe's. I had to coordinate with Lowe's to brand sure they had one in stock as information technology is Jan and I cannot exist without a water heater for an extended time. When the plumber was finished he billed me for $442. AO Smith said that they only reimburse $150!! Fifty-fifty though the warranty states that the unit of measurement is under full warranty upwards to a year. It appears that the sensors are very prone to going bad. Beware! This product will cost you more money then it will salvage yous. Save yourself the anguish of dealing with a dishonest company that does non alive up to their product guarantee. We have installed water heater on May 10, 2018 with AO Smith Water Heater. It started leaking less than 4 years and warranty was six twelvemonth. The manufacturer made the warranty merits process so hard, plus the labor toll of replacement, and inconvenience of no hot water. It's totally not worth the problem or effort to become aforementioned bad product again.

Purchased AO Signature 500 from Lowe'due south and had it installed by their "preferred installation team" in tardily Dec 21. By early Jan it went out. Lowe'southward pointed at AO and the installers, the installers blamed it on Lowes and AO and AO said they would overnight parts (2 weeks) and cover $100 labor.
